What's required to earn an ultra light pilots license (restricted to Powered Paragliding)? The student pilot must complete the ParaToys basic course and a minimum of 30 take offs and landings totaling no less than 5 hours solo flight time. Already have a pilots license, we designed a course for you, call for details 888-830-1494 Please Note: Flying foot launched PPG is strenuous and requires an above average fitness level. To complete 30 take offs and landings is a serious undertaking. Most find that training with a Quad is quicker, easier and more enjoyable. We shine the SPOTLIGHT on our training : A look at Zoltans 2nd flight
After you pass the P-Star Test and receive your students pilots license you start our training program and at the end of day three most students have between 1- 5 solo flights totaling about 5 hrs flight time. Next you will build time, working on acquiring 30 take offs/ landings.
The most common question I get is "How long does that take? And that's probably the only question you'll ask that I can't answer or find an answer for you. It's different for everyone. WILL Thursday BE A GOOD DAY TO GO FLYING? PPG WEATHER FORECASTING.So you are new pilot.... You have purchased your equipment, have a fresh license and your Paramotor is registered.... You are ready to fly but you are not quite sure how to plan your flying days depending on weather forecast.... This is how I do it: Say it is Monday and I would like to fly on Thursday. I first check regular long range local forecasts on websites such as: SARNIA FORECAST (CYZR)
What I am looking for is a nice, sunny day with and wind below 12 MPH. As you can see the six days shown here are almost perfect except for Friday when the forecasted wind is 16 MPH. I'll keep my eye on that day If there is any forecasted high wind, rain or thunderstorms do not plan on flying that day. A cumulonimbus cloud (thunder cloud ) is a very dangerous cloud formation that can literally suck a PPG pilot up to altitudes of 30 000 ft! Back to weather. I keep checking the sites I plan to fly for any changes to the forecast until the day before I am planning to fly which in this case would be Wednesday. When the wind forecast comes out, it is issued for the next 24 hours. I'm foot launching so what I am looking for is forecasted surface winds from 0 - 20 km/h or 0 - 11 knots or 0 - 12 mph. I usually check this on these sites.
I always check just before I go out to fly with our local weather station on the air field. |

Again, if you are planning to fly somewhere else and not in the Sarnia Region you must change the airport codes to the closest airport to the area where you will be flying. Airport codes for Canada can be researched at here. |

Important Notes |
||||||||||
|
Note1: Flying in the morning and evenings is when you get the best winds for training. As a result the afternoons are usually used for theory, kitting and non flying lessons. Note2: During week days the training is designed for one on one interaction, call if you wish to train 2 or more. On weekends training is set up for multipul students. Note3: For the ground inflations of the Paraglider and foot launches we require wind between 0 - 15 km/h and no rain, snow or wet ground. For Quad practice taxi runs or flights wind should not exceed 10 km/h.
Note: Students can use their own equipment only if its deemed safe by the instructor. Rules of Thumb: If its homemade we are not interested in seeing it try to fly. User modified equipment has proven to cause problems and delays. Please insure your equipment is returned to stock for your manufacturer prior to coming to our facility.
